If you haven’t already said goodbye to the lazy morning routines, I’m sure many of you will soon start your back to school morning routines. Rather than resorting to crazy mornings and rushing out the door forgetting things, here are a few simple tips to help keep your mornings running smoothly as the kids head back to school.
Tips for a Stress-Free Back-to-School Morning Routine
Here are a few tips to help you start your back-to-school morning routine stress-free!
Prepare the night before
There’s no reason to be taking showers or looking for outfits in the morning. It takes up time, and it’s an easy fix that gives you more time in the mornings. Leave the drama for the night before when you have time to deal with it!
Prepare lunches the night before
Another way to give yourself a little extra time in the morning is by getting the kids’ lunches ready the night before. It sure beats trying to figure out what everyone’s going to eat when you’re running behind schedule, or on schedule, for that matter. Plus, if you have to drive to the store, it’s easier on everyone if you’re able to run the night before.
Get yourself on track
If you don’t have a good morning routine, it’s difficult to expect your children to have a morning routine that works. Find a method that works for you and allows you to wake up feeling stress-free; when you’re calm, it helps start everyone’s morning out better.
Check your child’s backpack as soon as they get home from school
Rather than looking for notes in the mornings, do it right when they get home from school. You’ll have more time to read notes and make sure everyone has the things they need to return to school the following day. Plus, it’s always a good idea to make sure the kids don’t have homework they are unaware of.
Make sure everyone knows what is expected of them
Make sure everyone knows what is expected of them each morning, and if the morning routine changes for a day or two, make sure to go over expectations. If you usually feed the dogs or make breakfast but will be unable to, make sure you designate someone to handle your morning chores so they get done without putting everyone behind schedule.
Make sure everyone eats breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it’s important that we fuel our kids’ minds so they can start the day right. The last thing we want is them starting the day on an empty tummy. Try to plan your breakfasts for the week and be sure to keep quick and easy breakfast handy.
My sister moved in with us almost a year ago, and one of her favorite fast and easy breakfasts is Toaster Strudel™ Strawberry Pastries. It’s quickly become a family favorite and go-to breakfast when we’re running low on time. Toaster Strudel™ is celebrating its 30th birthday by putting 30% MORE icing inside all their Toaster Strudel™ packages! To learn more about Toaster Strudel™, visit their website here.
On the morning you have a little extra time, you can get creative with Toaster Strudel™ too! I added a little food coloring to Mattie’s and made four squares that were different colors. She noticed right away that they were the colors she is focusing on in school!
Vayda got something a little special! I promise it looked like an awesome heart, but it melted, lol.
I guess we all live and learn that we must let the Toaster Strudel™ Strawberry Pastries cool down a bit to make our kids’ awesome strudel-art breakfast, lol. Hey, it gives me something to look forward to and an awesome reason to get up and make certain we all have a stress-free back-to-school routine –– I love making my kids fun breakfasts when we have extra time!
What are some ways you make your back to school routine stress-free, so you have enough time to work on your own strudel art?
