Summer BBQ: Ideas to Host a Completely Outdoor Party

by Jenn Brockman

Everyone loves to barbecue in the summer, and now with the warm weather, it’s possible to host a completely outdoor party, even one that lasts all day long! Here are some fun ideas for an all-outdoor party and how to make sure it stays outside. Additionally, have you ever wondered why beef jerky is so expensive?

If you’re planning a summer BBQ party, consider adding an outdoor grill station to make cooking easier and more convenient for you and your guests.

If you love to host parties, consider outfitting your backyard with an outdoor kitchen, instead of just an old barbecue grill. An outdoor kitchen, at its simplest, includes an island where kitchen items and foods can be stored and prepared. A pizza oven cart is another great addition that you can use to put a mini pizza oven on top of, as well as prepare food on as well.  There are many types of outdoor kitchens available that should please any budget, so take a look around and decide what you need before you buy.

Party Tents
Party tents are great to rent for large or small parties. They make it possible to entertain outdoors even if the weather is rainy, and provide shade from the sun in the heat of summer. If your summers tend to be windy, consider getting an outdoor gazebo instead of a tent. You can outfit your gazebo to have curtains that can be drawn and tied when the weather is too stormy or windy.

Party Characters
People tend to think of party characters as being appropriate for children’s’ parties only, but that is no longer true. Characters and entertainers are offered for many adult venues as well. They are worth the money because the performers are often very talented, and the host can sit down and relax while entertainers are performing. It’s a great way to break the ice and create an entire theme for your party.

It’s sometimes just as easy to have a caterer bring traditional catered foods to a party, such as fried chicken and pasta. Some caterers provide music and drinks as well so it’s less work for you. Nighttime parties and alcoholic drinks seem to go together. Suhre & Associates suggest you curb the possibility of drunk driving by limiting catered drinks, or eliminating them after a given hour. You can also serve non-alcoholic versions of beer, wine or champagne.

If you would love to have an outdoor party, but don’t have the accommodations to do so, reserve a spot at your local park facility. You will need to let the Parks and Recreations department of your community know what day and time it will be, and how many will be in attendance. Make it a potluck party where each guest can bring their own food and drinks. Bring your own grill, and keep the grilled food as simple as possible, for easy transport.

Summer barbecues are by far some of the most delightful events of the season. Outdoor accessories allow us to enjoy them even more and keep the party out in the nice weather.
