What fun are these Pokemon Ball cookies? Plus, you can even customize these bad boys and get the kids involved in making this fun and delicious cookie recipe.

These cookies are pretty neat if you ask me!

Of course, you will need a cookie-cutter to make these.  A simple circle one will do.  If you don’t have one, then you can even use the top of a cup.

As you are making these, you will notice that they do take a little more time to make.

You will have to do the red, then let that dry for 30 minutes before doing the white section.  Then you will have to set aside and let dry for 3 hours before even putting the black on.  That is what takes the longest is waiting, but not the actual work itself.  These Pokemon Ball Cookies are still pretty simple to make, so I hope that you won’t let that keep you from making them.

After the black, then you will still have to wait another 20 minutes, then add the white again in the center.  After that, you have to let them set 8 hours before you can even bag them so that you do not get the icing on baggies.  Again, they are still pretty easy to make.

Ingredients

  • Cookie Ingredients:
  • 3 C flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 C soft unsalted butter
  • 1 C granulated sugar
  • 1 eggs
  • Cookie Cutter:
  • Circle
  • Icing Ingredients:
  • 4 egg whites
  • 2 C powder sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • red, and black gel food coloring

Instructions

Cookie Instructions:

Cream the butter with the sugar until smooth, not grainy, in a mixing bowl.

Add eggs. Continue to mix.

Add the vanilla. Continue mixing.

Sift the flour, baking soda, and salt together.

Add the dry mixture to the wet mixture.

Continue mixing to make sure all ingredients are thoroughly blended.

Make the dough into a ball.

Wrap it in cling wrap, completely covering the entire dough ball.

Put it in the refrigerator for about 6 hours or overnight.

Check to see if the dough is firm.

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.

Pull the dough out of the refrigerator and sit it out to soften up a bit.

Put flour on the cutting board and rub flour on the rolling pin.

Work some flour into the batter. (if needed).

Roll the dough out on the cutting board.

Using the cookie cutter, begin to make your cookies.

Line the cookie sheet with parchment paper.

Use a metal spatula to move the cookies to the parchment-lined cookie sheet.

Bake at 325 degrees for 8 minutes.

Check to see if the cookies are thoroughly baked.

Take the cookies off of the cookie sheet

Put it on a wire rack to cool completely.

(about 10 minutes).

Icing Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl, mixing on medium speed

Do this for 4 minutes. (except your food coloring.)

If the icing is not stiff enough, add 1/4 cup powdered sugar.

Divide the icing into 3 equal bowls.

The first bowl of icing remains white.

In the second bowl of icing, add several drops of red gel food coloring.

Stir to mix.

In the third bowl of icing, add several drops of black.

Spoon each color of icing into individual frosting bags with #2 tips.

Twist the open end of the bag to push the icing to the tip.

Squeeze the majority of the icing into a bowl.

Add 1 teaspoon of water to the icing & stir to mix the water & icing together.

Using the red icing, Outline and flood the top half of the sugar cookie.

Let it dry for at least 30 minutes.

Do the same process with the white icing for the bottom half of the cookie.

Let it dry for 3 hours before putting on the black.

With black icing, place an outline of a small circle in the middle

Place thick lines on both sides of the outline of the cookie

This will make the edge of the pokeball.

Let it dry for 20 minutes.

Using the white icing...

Add in a small dallop of white icing in the center of the black circle.

Let the cookies dry for at least 8 hours before bagging.
