4 Thoughtful Gift Ideas for Mother’s Day | Personalogy

by Jenn Brockman

Mother’s Day is coming and everyone is scrambling to find thoughtful gift ideas. I am sometimes found at a loss for what to get the woman who has given so much. I was playing Personalogy, a fun new family card game, with my nieces and I started to realize something. We were having a great time and their Mom was laughing and so joyous just watching us. That is when I realized what it really meant to give a thoughtful gift from the heart.

With pen in hand and a head bursting with ideas, I started jotting down some easy and inexpensive gift ideas for Mother’s Day. They all are simple things to do for Mom on her day, and they each speak volumes from the heart. These are some creative ways to give a gift of sincerity and appreciation this Mother’s Day.

  • Breakfast In Bed

Mom is usually the first person up each morning. She is hustling to get everyone up, all the lunches packed, breakfast cooked and making sure all the kids are on schedule. I watch my sister do this each morning and it made perfect sense to return the favor with extra perks. It’s easy to set the alarm and be sure that you are the first one up. Start whipping up breakfast, quietly of course and with help if needed. What is Mom’s favorite breakfast, or her favorite fruits? Make her the breakfast she’s been craving for a while but hasn’t had the time to cook for herself. Let her sleep in and when she begins to rustle, show up at her bedside with a tray of her favorite foods and some fresh juice, coffee, or milk. She can sit back, relax and enjoy the calmness of a morning without the chaos.

  • Coupon Book

While we were growing up, my brother, sister and I would give the gift of favors. We would make a coupon book for our mom, to use at her convenience. We would put coupons for a foot rub or massage her shoulders among other things. What does your mom want that she doesn’t get to enjoy very often? Maybe you offer coupons for cleaning the backyard or a coupon for a car wash. Make sure the coupons are for things that Mom would enjoy and use. They don’t expire and Mom can redeem them any time she wants. Besides, she has always done things for everyone else each time they asked, let’s return the favor!

  • Give A Bouquet From the Heart

Flowers are always a great gift and you can’t go wrong with a nicely arranged floral gift. But, why not turn it up a notch and add some personality to it? Instead of buying or ordering flowers, head out and pick some wild flowers for Mom. If you know her favorite flower and can’t find it on your walk, get some construction paper or other crafts and make her some. It’s a great way to let her know that she is loved. It’s creative and from the heart and let’s Mom know how much she is appreciated (plus, you’ll get a little exercise!)

  • Plan A Game Night In

Like I had mentioned before, I saw how happy my sister was to watch her daughters and I playing the Personalogy Card Game. It is a great gift idea to plan a night in for Mom and the family and spend some time together. I know my Mom is happiest when our family is together and with the Personalogy Card Game as a springboard it makes a night in easy to do. The Personalogy Card Game is a new game for family, friends, or anyone that starts the conversation, allows for instant connection, and it’s a ton of fun.

The card game asks questions about someone in the group and you have to answer with what you think that person would reply. How well do you know Mom? How well does she know Dad? The cards are full of 120 off-the-wall questions and you can learn about each other. It’s small enough that if instead of a night in the family heads on a trip, it can go right along. Personalogy can be played as a conversation starter, but if you are like our family, it can be played with points for more competition. Some snacks, laughter, smiles, and the family together is the best gift Mom could ask for.

These ideas are so easy and really fun to do. Mom deserves to be treated like the superhero she really is. So, whether you make her breakfast in bed or decide to design your own floral arrangement, anything that comes from the heart and made with love is perfect. Mother’s want to see their family happy and healthy, and gathering for a night in to play Personalogy is the best way to show her just that. Mother’s Day is coming up this year, but Moms should be celebrated every single day. So, let’s get going and let’s make sure Mom knows just how important she and how much she is loved!
