Witches Broom Peanut Butter Halloween Cookies Recipe

I know my husband is head over heels for this Halloween cookie recipe, it’s two of his very favorite sweet treats – peanut butter and chocolate, lol.  I can already tell you, it will be a sweet treat he will ask for again, so I’m probably going to have to come up with other fun recipes because the whole witches broom idea just doesn’t work for Christmas lol.  I’m sure we could do something like a fun chocolate dipped Christmas light bulb or something.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 C sugar
  • 1/2 C packed brown sugar
  • 4 oz unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 C creamy peanut butter
  • 1 egg, room temp
  • 1 1/4 C flour
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 bag pretzel rods
  • 1 package of chocolate wafers

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine brown sugar, butter, peanut butter, and vanilla mixing until combined.
  3. Sift together the flour and salt then add to the butter, peanut butter mixture.
  4. Roll dough into small 1 1/4 in balls.
  5. Stick the pretzel rod into one end of the dough ball. Lay them on the cookie sheet.
  6. Using a fork dipped in water, press the fork onto the dough to look like bristles of a broom.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes.
  8. Allow to cool on the cookie sheet until completely cool.
  9. Using the double boiler melt the chocolate wafers, often stirring until melted.
  10. Take off of the burner.
  11. Refer to the picture of the broom cookie before adding the chocolate.
  12. Using a spoon add the melted chocolate over the lower part of the stick and the upper section of the broom.
  13. Allow the chocolate on the broom cookies to set completely

Enough about that, it’s not like time doesn’t fly by fast enough without me already talking about upcoming holidays.  I think it’s safe to say, many of us can only handle preparing for one holiday at a time, so let’s not jump too far ahead.

I hope you and your family have fun with the Witches Broom Peanut Butter Halloween Cookies recipe!  I know my kids love baking fun things with me, it’s been a great way for us to chat, have fun, and bond.  Thankfully baking is one thing all three of my girls enjoy doing, so it’s been a great way for us to stay connected and have a little fun making a mess.  The only thing that isn’t so funny is how quickly they all run in different directions when it’s clean up time, lol.

Enjoy!
