Here are a few clever uses for everyday household items we hope you find useful.

  • white collar shirt and iron on ironing boardYou can open those hard to open jars – Grab a rubber band, wrap it around the jar until it’s tight and use it to get a better grip on the lid.  Works like a charm.
  • Kids and permanent markers – There is something about kids and permanent markers.  The second they get their hands on one they draw all over everything they’re not supposed to – themselves, counters, walls, etc.  Well, the good news is you can use rubbing alcohol to get it off just about anything.  Of course, you won’t be able to get it off your wall if you have wallpaper, but it’s magical on so many other surfaces.  Grab a paper towel, cotton ball, QTip or whatever you have that can be used to soak up some running alcohol and use it to wipe the area clean.
  • Help holding those little nails – Ouch, smashing your finger with a hammer stinks, and it always seems to happen with the small nails I use to hang pictures.  My mom has always used a clothespin to help her avoid smashing her fingers, and it works like a charm.  Just clamp the clothespin on the nail and hold the clothespin while you hammer.
  • Get paint off – We’ve been painting, and it never fails I always end up with paint on my hands, arms, and even face.  I guess it goes with the job, and thankfully baby oil gets latex paint off your skin. All you have to do is rub a little on painted skin and rub until it comes off.
  • WOW, those squeaky doors – It’s not just squeaky doors, but any hinges that have that allowing squeak baby oil can take care of.  Simply add a little baby oil move door or hinge back and forth to make sure it is oiled and BAM no more squeaky hinges.
  • Brighten those whites – Using ½ cup of lemon juice can help whiten those whites.
  • Help those puffy eyes with only a trip to the kitchen – Did you know that metal spoons can help you take care of those puffy eyes?  Place two spoons in the freezer and apply them to your puffy eyes in the morning.
  • Yes it is possible to keep kids clean while eating popsicles –  Using a muffin tin poke a hole in the tin using the end of the stick and slide it up.  BAM drip catcher that will help keep the kids clean.
