I cannot believe how fast the holidays are approaching, I don’t know about you, but I’m already on the lookout for holiday recipes. Desserts? Wait, what?? Yes, desserts too!! I just made an ooey gooey, super rich and yummy, Heavenly Chocolate Cake using MIRACLE WHIP!
This cake was so easy to put together and even easier to eat. My kids thought I was crazy putting MIRACLE WHIP in the batter, my son ran up to me, and said “mom, stop!! What are you doing?! But once they tasted it, they agreed it worked fabulously. You end up with a beautiful, moist cake that is rich in chocolate flavour without being so sweet that it makes your teeth scream. And if I thought it was good the first day, it tasted even better after sitting overnight in the fridge.

Check out these awesome recipes all made with MIRACLE WHIP. I made a dish that fit my one-of-a-kind style, cake! Who doesn’t love a big ol’ slice of Heavenly Chocolate Cake? I couldn’t believe that MIRACLE WHIP was a key ingredient! Who knew you could add it to your favourite sandwiches and your soon to be favorite desserts too!
Heavenly Chocolate Cake Recipe
You’ll need the following ingredients:
- 1 pkg. (2-layer size) chocolate cake mix (not pudding in the mix variety)
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, divided
- 3 eggs
- 1-1/3 cups water
- 1 cup MIRACLE WHIP Dressing
- 4 oz. (1/2 of 8-oz. pkg.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
- 1 tbsp. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2-1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar
Now for the fun part, let’s make it:
- Heat the oven to 350° F.
- You’ll need a 13×9-inch pan, be sure to spray with cooking spray. Coat with flour; set aside. Stir cake mix and ó cup cocoa in large mixing bowl. Add eggs, water and dressing; beat with mixer until well blended. Pour into prepared pan.
- Bake the chocolate cake for 30 to 35 min. or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
- Beat the cream cheese, milk and vanilla with mixer until well blended. Gradually add combined powdered sugar and remaining cocoa, beating well after each addition. Spread over cake.
Looking for a special treat? One slice of this heavenly cake provides a lot of chocolaty flavor. Step it up a notch, and make it a triple layer heavenly chocolate cake!
Triple Layer Heavenly Chocolate Cake
You’ll need 3 (9-inch) round pans, be sure to grease and flour. Line bottoms of pans with waxed paper. Prepare cake batter as directed; pour evenly into prepared pans. Bake at 350° F 20 to 23 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Test your cake for Doneness!
To prevent overbaking, check cakes or cupcakes at the minimum baking time indicated in recipe. Insert a toothpick in center of cake. If it comes out clean, the cake is done. If it does not come out clean, return to the over for a few additional minutes before rechecking.
TIP: Double frosting recipe. Fill and frost cake layers with prepared frosting.
