About Gift of Sleep Give Back Celebration
I know you are probably wondering what in the world we are celebrating! We are celebrating the new and improved Pampers diapers with superior overnight dryness and protection. Which if you are a mom, you know overnight dryness and protection is HUGE!
Pampers interviewed 9,000 moms, and yes you read that right NINE THOUSAND moms, bout what was important for their baby. They found out that the number one unmet need is a diaper that provided superior overnight dryness. Would you agree with these moms? I know I sure would! So you know Pampers, they incorporated tis firsthand insight, as well as the brands knowledge of baby and baby’s needs, to come up with a diaper that was awesome enough for mom and baby – one that can be counted on for up to 12 hours! Be sure to swing by and check it out on the Pampers Website.
I was provided with Pampers Swaddlers, Pamper Cruisers, a flash drive packed with all kinds of great information, and my favorite is a $100 gift card. NO not for me silly, it’s my gift to someone who I feel needs some rest. Which I gave to my brother and sister-n-law, not just because they are family, but because I take my hat off to this wonderful mommy and daddy. Be sure to keep reading, it’s really awesome what Pampers and Double Duty Diva’s allowed me to do for someone!
Give The Gift of Sleep Choice
My nephew Corbin is just about out of diapers, but Dennis (my brother) and Marley (my sister-in-law) are finally going to have another baby! They have been really scared to have another one because of everything that has happened with Corbin, so it’s super exciting! If you have followed my blog for a while than you may have heard a little about Corbin. If not I will explain why I choose to give the gift of sleep to Dennis and Marley!
On the day that Dennis and Marley were supposed to bring Corbin home from the hospital they were informed their new baby boy’s heart was beating to fast. It wasn’t 2 hours later when Corbin and his mommy were being flow to another hospital for further tests.. Once he was flown to another hospital they doctors realized Corbin has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, which is a complex and rare heart defect that is present at birth. The left side of the heart is critically underdeveloped. So the left side of the heart is not able to do its job the heart cannot effectively pump blood to the body, it can only be treated with surgeries (yes at least 3 by the age of 3), or a heart transplant. Luckily we live in the world we do, and Texas Children’s Hospital is as amazing as they are, or Corbin might not be here with us today. Dennis and Marley spent the first 6 months of Corbin’s life in Houston, Texas so they were close to the children’s hospital, where they make so many miracles happen. They have to go back once a year, sometimes two, and head to El Paso, Texas every single month. They are always on the go!
Corbin experienced his first heart surgery at only 6 days old, the pictures still bring tears to my eyes. I for one moment cannot imagine what Dennis and Marley feel. Since Corbin’s first surgery he has experienced 3 more, been flown back to Houston twice, and been in the hospital for minor things here and there. Somehow they have both managed to stay focus and graduate college, buy a home, and smile every single day. I truly admire them, but on the flip side if anyone needs sleep it’s them!
They never have money to do anything, because they have so many medical bills, and now preparing for another baby. This time of year is always so worrisome for Dennis and Marley – the cold season. Needless to say, they don’t leave the house much with Corbin, which means they never leave the house together. One of them is always with Corbin, while the other runs to do something. The last time I was over there I could tell it was starting to get to them. They would never admit it, but I could see it. They just need a little alone time together, maybe out of the house for dinner and a movie.
Knowing how much they have been through over the years, and that they have not slept a whole night in years I couldn’t think of anyone who deserved the gift of sleep more than them. Sure they need sleep, but they also need alone mom and dad time. So rather than running to the store and purchasing things for the baby, I wanted to do something special for them. They have not been on a date in more than TWO YEARS! I showed up at their house yesterday after my brother got home from work, and explained to them that they did not have a choice. I was taking Corbin with me, I would get him dressed for school, and thanks to Pampers and Double Duty Diva’s I wanted them to have the $100 gift card! They were to use it on anything they wanted, but only as long as they went on a date! Period the end, I packed Corbin’s bag and away we went!
This is Marley, excited yet having a really hard time telling Corbin she will see him tomorrow after school, and Corbin ready to head over to my house to play with his cousins, lol. I kept telling her that everything would be okay, and for them to go and have a nice night. Not to worry if I needed anything I would call, and she made me pinky promise before I left to take good care of her little man. Of course I will! Everything went just as planned, the kids played and had fun, and we had no reason to call mommy and daddy!
I received a call this morning from my Marley in tears tell me thank you, that she did not realize how badly her and Dennis needed that time together, which made me cry. Everyone was crying lol, but it was happy tears. See Marley is pregnant so everything makes her cry, and I’m just glad that they finally slept an entire night, and spent quality time together! Thank you Pampers and Double Duty Divas for helping me give the gift of sleep to a couple that desperately needed time together!
