Netflix Movies for Kids! #NetflixFamilies Stops Fighting!

by Jenn

Disclosurereleases on NetflixI have a confession, I love Netflix family movies, educational movies on Netflix, Netflix movies for kids, new releases on Netflix, and all the other great Netflix movies.  Normally I limit my kid’s time watching TV.  Since its summer, and mommy needs to keep her sanity I recently started letting them watch more TV.  I’m sure you gathered that I love Netflix.  I actually love Netflix now more than ever, lol.  Okay, let me explain.

The other day I wanted to run away from home!  No, I’m not joking at all.  I have four children, and every single one of them would not stop fighting, rolling their eyes, or crying.

Family Movies On NetflixMy oldest suddenly developed an attitude that made me want to scream.  My son wouldn’t stop complaining because his tablet was not charged, he wasn’t able to watch movies on Netflix, and mom didn’t have magical powers to zap some charge into the dead battery.  My 7-year-old daughter would not do anything I asked her. She always ended up on some magical island where kids don’t have to clean their rooms, or listen to mom. My youngest daughter would not stop getting into my shoes, and crying because her older sister wouldn’t take her to this magical island or something.  It was all fun and games until she fell down my step in heels!

Rather than loosing my cool, I locked myself in my room until their father got home, turned browsed some new releases on Netflix.  Okay, you busted me. They would have busted the door down, curled up in my bed, and before I knew it we would have been watching movies on Netflix for kids.  You think I’m kidding, they would have found a way to get in.  I knew my room wouldn’t be safe for long.

So here is what I did.  I went into my room, banged my head into the wall several times until I realized I needed to outsmart them.  Shouldn’t be hard right?  You must not know my kids, lol.  Finally I took a deep breath, and figured I would calmly address the situation, and hope that nobody starts crying or rolling their eyes.  At this point I really don’t think I could have handled more.

I walk out of my room, call all the kids into the living room, and tell them to let me talk.  I explain to them that they are driving me nuts, tell them exactly what they are doing, and I get this deer in the headlights look.  Oh, you know that one too.  The look that they try to make you think they didn’t realize the fighting, crying and attitudes were driving mom crazy.   They promised no more fighting, crying, pulling hair, biting, breathing on each other, rolling eyes, getting into things, not listening, and went back about their business.

I went in my room totally expecting to hear someone cry, yell, and maybe even blow up at this point.  I’m putting cloths away, look up and there’s my three girls, just standing there with this look on their face.  At this point I’m convinced they found a silent bomb, and blew up the kitchen, or something.  They don’t just make that look, something happened.  Do you want to know what it was?

They felt so bad for upsetting me, and came to ask me if I would watch some movies on Netflix with them.  OMG, they actually felt bad, wanted to me pick any movie on Netflix I wanted, and we would all sit down watch it.  I couldn’t help it, laundry can wait!  I dropped what I was doing, made a beeline for the remote (the last thing I want them to do is change their mind about mom picking the movie), and turned on Netflix Family.  We browsed some movies, and finally we agreed on Paranorman!

Before I knew it we moved on to another movies, another, and dad was home from work.  We watched several great family movies, kid’s movies, we even watched some fun educational movies on Netflix.  I always love watching my youngest interact with educational programs.  They learn so quickly, and there is several great educational movies for kids on Netflix.

I can honestly say that Netflix has been a great investment for our family, especially this summer.  We have movie night once a week.  We find great family movies on Netflix, but I have to tell you that Netflix is great for more than family movie night.  Netflix has great family movies, awesome movies for kids, great educational movies, TV shows, and just about any other movies you can imagine.  We have used watched movies on Netflix for years, and still have not come close to watching everything.

Netflix is available on all kinds of devices such as:

  • Laptops
  • Smartphones
  • Tablets
  • Smart TVs
  • Microsoft Xbox
  • Sony PlayStation
  • Nintendo Wii

We love that there are tons of great shows, both new and old, never commercials, always new films added, we can watch it in any room, on our way to the store, or out-of-town to grandma’s house.  My kids can watch movies on Netflix anytime, anywhere, and it beats leaving the house to rent a movie.

My kids are only allowed a certain amount of TV daily, unless we have something special going on.  Which is why they love Netflix too.  They know they get to watch kid’s movies, without commercials, rather than spending most of their time trying to find something to watch.  there is great family movies on Netflix such as:  The Lorax, Hoowinked Too!, My Little Pony, Sesame Street, Saved by the Bell, Family Ties, Heathcliff, Garfield, Goosebumps, Dumbo, Captain America, Thor and more.

Mom and dad also enjoy crawling into bed when the kids are asleep and playing catch up on TV shows on Netflix, such as: Breaking Bad, Weeds, Parenthood, and Grey’s Anatomy.

I have to brag that we get all this entertainment anytime, anywhere for only $7.99 a month.  That’s less than a single ticket to the movies.  I highly recommend Netflix Families to anyone.

Summer months can get the best of parents, but it can be hard on the kids too.  Normally I keep my kids busy, but I have things I have to do too.  So mom was cleaning, it was too hot for the kids to go outside, so they were stuck inside all day.  It might not get my kids to stop fighting all the time, but I have started to allow them a little more TV time on days they are stuck in the house.  Which they enjoy, and it helps mom get things done, and keep her sanity.  Luckily they have not started fighting about who gets to watch what, lol.

Just a quick reminder, you can try Netflix for 30 days free.  I’m sure you will love it, especially for only $7.99 a month.  So if your family is not already enjoying everything Netflix has to offer, be sure to give it a try.  You can visit Netflix.com/Families to sign up for,  learn more, or  browse all their awesome titles.

Do you watch movies on Netflix?  If so what do you like about Netflix, and if not browsing movies on Netflix what are you looking forward to trying?

I’ve been a member of Netflix for years and while I don’t have young children in the home anymore, I still enjoy watching some of the kids films. I wish they would put some of the early Disney feature length films up on Netflix streaming. Films such as Cinderella, Lady and the Tramp, Fantasia and Bambi. Love those films from when I was a kid….many, many moons ago!

I love Netflix. I bought my WII not only for games but also so I could get Netflix streaming. I enjoy documentaries and all the choices they offer. I canceled my blockbuster because Netflix met my needs better.

I love Netflix and that you always have access to movies, especially when you can never find anything good on TV to watch.
