Memorial Day Gas Prices | Yet Again They Are Going Up

Memorial Day is almost here have you noticed the increase in gas prices lately? So guess what is right around the corner? You gusted it Memorial Day, the fun holiday! Every freaking holiday that shows up, we can count on the gift of increasing gas prices! I love Memorial Day this year it falls on Monday May, 28th! My Birthday is the day before Memorial Day, yes another year older.

When I was younger I loved Memorial Day, simply because I knew that it meant presents, fun, family, friends, and more fun. Now I totally and completely dread Memorial Day, why? My Birthday, it is not the day itself that I mind but I simply do not want to turn yet another year older! Boo to getting old it is no fun, if I could go back and know what I do now I totally would.

I read this article on Los Angeles Times – Recent Spike in fas prices may mean record pain on Memorial Day. Have you noticed gas prices going up where you are? I sure have they have actually gone up $0.15 in the last week and I am sure they will continue to do so. I know they keep upping the gas prices, holiday comes oh guess what many of us cannot afford to pay for gas to see our family. WTF, anyway isnt price gouging supposed to be illegal? I guess not when it comes the word “oil”, its bullshit that they can do this to us.

I would love to go and see my family for my birthday and the Memorial Day Holiday, but sadly when I travel I take my family and there is more costs than jsut gas and we have not saved up for the trip. It is sad that because of gas my husband and I have to save up for a 3 hour drive to see my mom and dad, isn’t it. I often wonder how single moms afford these inceasing gas prices, I know it has to be hard. I remember when I used to drive 4 hours on $20 in gas and have plenty left over. Not anymore, now we are talking about $100 there and $100 back, yea not sure why the hell they find it necessary to raise the gas prices, other than the rich only want to become richer and in turn greed takes over. Oh yea, well what about us people who are normal, pay our bills, love our family, take care of our children, doesn’t anyone want to cut us a break.

Do you know how much extra money we would have every month if the cost of gas was not so outrages? I added it up and on average, simply taking my children to and from school, going to work, and other small trips here and there I spend about $300 a month in gas. Seriously, I cannot believe that I remember when I was a teenage and hell I could drive for days on $20. Yes I understand the cost of living goes up but hell how much has a candy bar gone up since you were younger. Even if it was back in the day when they were $0.10 it has gone up a little over a $1. Now if you were driving back then how much was gas? NOW how much has it gone up about $3 – $4 depending on where you live, cost of living my ass!

There my venting is over! Sorry to be a scrooge about Memorial Day this year, however why can’t they simply leave the gas prices alone on the holidays?
