Getting Barefoot with Sweet White Wine & Perfectly Pink Wine!

by Jenn

Red Wine or White Wine, how do you choose the best wine?  I don’t think there is a way to choose the best wine, unless you are a professional wine taster, and I don’t know about you, but I am not.  I know what I like, the way I like it, and that’ pretty much the way it is.  I’m not a huge drinker, but there are days when the kids go crazy, everything falls apart, or like the other day my washer flooded the house.  I might partake in a glass of wine.  Then there are those special nights, when my husband and I actually get time alone, or we invite over a few friends.  It doesn’t happen often so when it does we try to make the most of it.  It’s nice to sit on the back deck this time of year, maybe even fire up the old grill and cook something yummy.

Getting Barefoot with Sweet White Wine & Perfectly Pink Wine!

There is nothing I enjoy more than spoiling my husband by planning a fun, or romantic night together.  I love the man, he’s extremely supportive, works hard for his family, and any time I get alone with him I cherish.  This last weekend we were lucky enough to have the weekend together.  OH, yes this was before my washer decided to flood my entire wash room, but that is a story for another day.  Sorry, I’m still a little upset over the whole deal….

Anyway, I was able to surprise my husband with a special evening without the kids.  Since we are building on to our home we are not in a financial spot to head out-of-town, or even go out for dinner for that matter.  I had to get creative, I had a major budget to stick to… I decided I would so something a little fun.  Since I already had a bottle of Perfectly Pink Wine, and Sweet White Wine I decided I would make him a nice healthy dinner, we would have a nice quite even, and enjoy some Barefoot Refresh wine.  My husband will sit down for a glass of wine with me, but it’s only when I pull it out.  Typically when he decides to have a drink he will grab a beer, but I knew he would sit down for some Barefoot Refresh with me.

About Barefoot Refresh

You might have heard of Barefoot Refresh, or Barefoot Wine & Bubbly is how I always remember their name.

Barefoot takes pride in their fabulous flavorful, refreshing, and nicely carbonated wines.  You can enjoy four great blends which are:

  • Crisp White wine – Riesling blended with Chenin Blanc
  • Sweet White wine – Pinot Grigio blended with Moscato
  • Summer Red wine – Pinot Noir Rose blended with Moscato
  • Perfectly Pink wine – White Grenache blended with Chenin Blanc and Moscato.

Like anything else I plan, it always changes lol.  Rather than a nice quite evening alone we decided to invite my brother and sister-n-law over for dinner.  Shawn and I might not know much about wine, but my sister-n-law knows her wine, and is pretty picky about it as well.  To be honest I was a little excited to see what she thought of the Barefoot Wine, I had no idea she had already tried it.  Come to find out, she was a little upset I didn’t get the Crisp White Wine, lol.   What can I say I like my wine a little on the fruity side.  Then there is my brother who will not drink wine, he is always willing to try something new, but there are very few wines that he enjoys.  He says they are too “hard-core” for him, lol.

Perfectly Pink Wine

Speaking of “hard core” what do you think of our Halloween cup that we used to taste test our wine lol.  Yes, I did this just to be a smart butt to my brother.  I don’t know how anything can be hard core in a cute orange punkin cup for Halloween, lol.  I didn’t dare pull out my hard core ghost cups that say boo, lol.

Regardless we all had a little sample of both the Perfectly Pink wine, and the Sweet White Wine chilled rather than over ice, which was rather nice.  We started out by tasting the Sweet White Wine which is fruity and light just the way I like them..  You can taste the hint of peach and tangerine, just the right amount of fizz. I would have to agree with my sister-n-law; Barefoot Refresh’s Sweet White Wine would go perfectly with fresh watermelon, at a BBQ with potato salad.  It’s one of those wines you can sit back and enjoy.  It has just enough sweetness to make it a great wine, and the price is pretty awesome as well.

Sweet White Wine

Next we tried the Perfectly Pink Wine… Needless to say, by looking at my blog you can already tell I love the color pink.  Yes, I was excited to try this wine because it’s pink.  I am a little strange like that, lol.  Barefoot Refresh’s Perfectly Pink wine is full of flavor, and refreshing.  I was surprised, but this was my favorite.  In my opinion Perfectly Pink is more of a wine that you drink while you are hanging out with your friends eating pizza, kicking back watching a football game or UFC fight, lol.  It’s something we do regularly, and I just picture it being perfect for a night like that.

Barefoot Refresh Perfectly Pink wine also makes a pretty good Blush Sangria, and it’s easy to make if you have a sister-n-law with all the fixing at her place.   All you need is 3oz (maybe a little more if you would like) of Barefoot Refresh Perfectly Pink wine, about 1oz of peach schnapps, fill your glass with pineapple juice, but leave enough room to top it with sprite.  It’s a fun recipe, and perfect for this time of year.  It’s still warm where I live, but not so warm you cannot spend time outdoors.  It’s refreshing, yet relaxing after a long day.

Barefoot Refresh Wine on the Rocks

Out of the two wines I tasted I preferred the Perfectly Pink wine.  I enjoyed both the Perfectly Pink wine, and Sweet White wine served chilled.  When I found out how much each bottle can be purchased for I nearly fell out of my chair.  Neither flavors tasted like an $8 bottle of wine, if I would have realized the price before I tasted them I would have been thinking wine in a box lol.  Not to mention I was very glad to look in my refrigerator and see enough Perfectly Pink left the other day when my washer flooded my house.  I spent the entire day cleaning up, was a little frustrated, and it was a nice way to sit back and unwind from the day.

Jennifer Wall is a winemaker and created Barefoot Refresh to supply a fabulous wine for everyone to enjoy.  I think she did a fabulous job making something that everyone can enjoy.  My brother is not a big wine drinker, and very rarely will sit down and have a glass with us.  He has always been more of a beer guy, along with my husband.  However they both sat down, enjoy tasting both flavors of Barefoot Refresh, and even had another glass.  My brother said he liked the wine because it was light, and not as “hard core” as other wines he has tasted.  I was actually surprised my brother nor my husband opened a beer, they sat back and enjoyed two glasses of wine with Marley (my sister-n-law) and I.  It’s also nice that my sister-n-law can agree on a wine.  Normally we both grab our own bottle, drink a glass or two, and the rest sits in our refrigerator for a long time.

I also would have to agree with my husband, Barefoot Refresh would be an awesome, affordable gift idea for the upcoming holiday.  Since I like crafts my husband suggested we purchase some baskets, a few bottles of Barefoot Refresh, some munchies that go well with the wine, make them look fancy, and give them to our family and friends who like wine.  Pretty nice gift basket, right!  I sure think it is!

If you enjoy wine from time to time, or any other time Barefoot Refresh has an awesome selection, it taste great, and it’s only about $8 a bottle.  Be sure to swing by and check out all the great wines they offers by visiting BarefootRefresh.com.  You can also keep up with them on their Facebook Page, Follow them on Twitter, and subscribe via YouTube.

I’ve seen this at the grocery store and almost bought some. We aren’t big wine drinkers. And, I know nothing about wine. Now that I’ve read the descriptions I think I will try a bottle. When I do buy wine it’s always chocolate. This’ll be a nice change.
