Author: SR Staley

I thoroughly enjoyed working with author SR Staley, on the review of his new book, A Warrior’s Soul. SR Staley is a well-traveled and educated man who splits his time between teaching at Florida State University, spending time with his family, and practicing martial arts. He also goes to  many different countries giving presentations and speeches on all sorts of topics. SR Staley also wrote a young adult novel called “The Pirate of Panther Bay”.

A Warrior’s Soul, by SR Staley is an excellent book that takes you through the everyday life of an average teenage boy who is stuck dealing with a problem that is all too often overlooked and even ignored by principles and teaching staff in schools all across America. 13-year-old Luke was in training to become a ninja until he started questioning his abilities and the reason for taking the ninjitsu lessons. Especially after being confronted by a bully and his cronies, and seeing one of his friends beaten up. Instead of using his skills to defend his friend Luke ran and hid, like a coward.

You can feel the anger and torment as Luke battles with his own inner demons, wondering why he cannot stand up to this bully, wondering why he froze and was unable to use his ninja skills to defend himself, or perhaps even defeat this bigger older kid who has bullied nearly every kid in Luke’s school. Luke has told the Principal, and the teachers, and even his mother about the bully and was told that those kinds of problems do not exist in their school district.

Its only after Luke is finally caught and beaten up pretty badly in the lunchroom by the bully and his minions, that he decides that there is no way out of this mess, other than to face his enemy head on.  But how should he do it. Luke is no longer confident in his ninja skills, even though he goes over all the moves and steps and stances he learned at the dojo, in his mind. But  he just cant muster up the courage to stand up for himself. He needs to find a way, but how? Should he get a gun, or maybe a knife? or will he finally use his training and be the ninja he has always dreamed of being?

It’s up to you now, to read A Warrior’s Soul by SR Staley and find out for yourself. Does Luke stand and fight?
