2 Fun #Thanksgiving Turkey Craft for Kids!

I love doing crafts with kids, it’s loads of fun, and I have jumped at the chance to help around Mattie’s pre-pre-school.  Her teacher and I have come up with some fun Thanksgiving Turkey crafts for kids!  I have to say that’s my favorite thing about Mattie’s teacher, she’s crafty.  She had some really awesome Thanksgiving craft ideas for kids up her sleeve.  I cannot wait for Christmas, because that’s my favorite time of year for baking, and crafting with the kids.

Most of you probably already know my 3-year-old is going to Tuesday – Thursday school, which is great.  I originally did it so I would have a little alone time to focus on my blog and get some work done… I should have known better, rather than going home and working like I planned I spend my time at her school helping with the fun stuff.  Her teacher and I have a blast coming up with fun craft things to do, and we get along great.  Plus, Mattie loves that her mom is at school with her.  I’m going to take advantage of that for as long as I can, before I know it she will forget she has a mom, or tell me I cannot do certain things in public or it will embarrass her lol.

Last week we made these super fun Thanksgiving Turkey Craft for kids.  They are super easy, and I’m sure most of you know how to make a turkey with your hand.  Well we used the kids hands on both of the crafts!

First we did the Turkey M&M Holder Craft… I love M&M’s, and so does everyone else in the family.  It’s the perfect little jar for Mattie to put her M&M’s in, nice and small!  Plus I always love that M&M’s bring out the fun holiday colors!  I’m just waiting for Christmas, we have some good stuff coming!  Anyway, let’s talk about the Thanksgiving Turkey Crafts for kids.

Turkey M&M Holder Thanksgiving Craft

This is super cute, and really easy.  However if you have a young child like I do than it’s likely you will be doing all the cutting and drawing.  Be sure and let your child color everything, and help with the glueing.

Things you need:

• Small Jar
• Construction paper – Thanksgiving colors.
• Colors/Paint/Markers
• Pen
• Eyes
• Glue
• Scissors

How to make the Turkey M&M Holder Craft:

• An adult can either draw the tail feathers, or you can use your child’s handprints, and cut it out.  For this we drew the tail feathers and cut it out because there was so many children in the classroom.  It was much faster, and less stressful or us, but if I was to do this at home I would use the handprint.

• While you finish cutting and drawing everything for the rest of the turkey craft, give your child something to do.  Ask them to tell you 5 things they are thankful for, write one of each one of the tail feathers, and allow them to color or paint the tail feathers.

• Next you the turkeys beak.  Draw 2 triangles that meet on a piece of paper and cut it out, then fold in half and that’s your beak.

• Glue on your eyes, mouth, tail feathers and allow to dry for about an hour before you fill with your favorite Thanksgiving Candy!

Turkey Napkin Holder Craft

Depending on how old your child is and how well they can draw, or use scissors depends on how much you will need to help them.  If your child is young like mine you will likely do all the drawing and cutting, so be sure and allow your child to do all the coloring, and help with the glue.

Things you will need:

• Construction paper – Thanksgiving colors.
• scissors
• glue
• pen
• colors/markers/paints
• eyes

How to make your super cute Turkey Napkin Holder:

• Next is my favorite, the Turkey Napkin Holder!  This one is loads of fun, and to make the tail feathers you can do the same thing you did with the above craft.  Either use your child’s handprint, or draw and cut it out.

• After you have cut out the tail feathers ask your child to tell you 5 things they are thankful for and write one on each tail feather.

• While you are getting all the other parts of the turkey ready allow your child to color the tail feathers any color they choose.

• Cut about 1 inch thick by about 3 – 4 inches long strip of construction paper, your favorite color.

• Next an adult will need to draw the turkey body or, you can allow your child to trace your thumb, and then you can cut it out.

• The beak is a small triangle cut out.

• Adult will need to draw the feet, and cut out.

• I let matte draw the Turkey Gobbler thing, and I cut it out.

• Next it’s time for your child to have some fun, and glue everything together.

• Help your child glue the strip of paper ends together big enough that you can place a napkin into it easily.  Next help your child glue on the tail feathers, body, feet, beak, gobbler, and eyes.

• Allow to dry for about an hour, and enjoy!
